In the beginning was the word...
We at Polarity Ensemble Theatre recognize the primacy of the written word, and it is our hope to provide a small venue for new and emerging writers. We understand how much great work there is out there and how little of it ever makes it into print.
Irv Gorman, Publisher The word? Okay, technically speaking it was the thought. But the thought without a way to share it wasn't worth very much. The spoken word seemed to solve that problem nicely, at least for the people within earshot, but it really wasn't enough. In fact it wasn't until the word was able to be put on paper and published that it began to reach its full potential to move us, to make us think, to make us laugh, to make us cry, and even perhaps to help us come to grips with the meaning of our own existence. And even if that wasn't the case, who doesn't enjoy a good story? Without words, there would be no stories.
We plan to produce new adaptations of classic plays as well as original works by local playwrights. It is our hope to publish the plays we produce in book form. With a little luck and some hard work, we will bring new voices to the public arena while providing a rich experience for the theatre-going public. In time, we also hope to publish works of fiction and poetry that cannot find a home with more commercial houses.
